Terms of Service
These terms cover the Kilemat website and the Kilemat Android app, which share one account. Using either means agreeing to them.
Last updated 2026-08-31 · version 2026-08-31.2 · English is the authoritative version of this document.
Who you are contracting with
Kilemat is operated by the person or company identified in the legal notice, which is the canonical place for operator and contact details.
What Kilemat is
A tool for learning to read and write Arabic: graded reading, vocabulary with spaced repetition, a handwriting course and a small social layer. It is educational material, not a qualification, and not a substitute for teaching.
The content and the exercises change over time. Features may be added, altered or withdrawn.
Accounts and eligibility
You need an account for progress to be saved. You may create one account for yourself and you are responsible for what happens under it.
Keep your password to yourself. Two-factor authentication is available and is worth turning on. Tell us if you think somebody else is in your account: changing your password signs out every other device immediately.
A minimum age has not yet been set for this service, and this section will state one once it has. Where you are below the age at which you can agree to a contract yourself, a parent or guardian must agree on your behalf.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use somebody else's account, or share yours to give somebody else paid access
- try to obtain premium content without paying for it, including by tampering with requests the app or the site makes
- copy the course content, the recordings or the reading material for redistribution
- scrape, automate or load the service in a way that degrades it for other people
- attempt to break, probe or bypass the security of the service
Community behaviour
Profiles, friend requests and leaderboards are shared spaces. The community guidelines say what is not acceptable in a display name, an avatar or a friend request, and how reporting works. Breaking them can cost you those features or your account.
You can block any account, and you can report one. Blocking is symmetric and immediate; reporting is reviewed by a person.
Intellectual property
The stories, conversations, recordings, curriculum and software are owned by the operator or licensed to it. You get a personal, non-transferable right to use them for your own learning for as long as your account exists.
What you write into the handwriting canvas is yours. Kilemat scores it and, for a graded lesson, stores the score; it does not publish it and does not use it to train anything.
Premium, and how billing works
Part of Kilemat is free: the first two stories in each category, the first two conversations, the first writing unit, the whole alphabet and the vocabulary tools. Premium opens the rest.
One subscription covers the website and the app, because both read the same account.
Prices, currency and billing interval are shown before you buy, on the premium page or in the app's purchase screen. They come from the store or payment provider handling your purchase, not from this page, so what you are shown there is what applies.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period, at the then-current price, until you cancel. You cancel where you bought it: Google Play for a purchase made in the Android app, or the subscription management page for a purchase made on the website. Cancelling stops the next charge; it does not end the period you have already paid for, and your access continues until that period runs out.
Refunds are handled by whoever took the payment. Statutory consumer rights, including any right of withdrawal for digital content in your country, apply on top of that and are not affected by anything on this page. The precise wording of that section needs legal review before it is stated here.
The subscription and cancellation page has the practical steps.
Ending the agreement
You can delete your account at any time, from Settings or from the deletion request page. Deleting removes your Kilemat data. It does not cancel a subscription, and it does not refund one: cancel first, or you may keep being charged.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the community guidelines, or where we are legally required to. Where the reason is not a safety one, you will be told what it was and can respond.
Records the operator or its payment providers are legally required to keep survive the deletion of an account. Nothing else does.
Availability and changes
Kilemat is offered as it is and as it is available. It depends on services outside our control, and it will sometimes be down. There is no uptime guarantee.
These terms can change. The date and version at the top of this page change with them, and a material change will be announced in the product rather than only here.
Liability
This section needs legal review and deliberately does not yet state a limitation. The previous version excluded liability for "any damages", which is not enforceable against a consumer in most of the countries Kilemat is sold in, and an unenforceable exclusion protects nobody. What can be excluded, and what cannot, depends on the governing law below.
Nothing in these terms will ever exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Germany. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, or your right to bring a claim in a court available to you under that law.
